Madagascar Targeted Country Event 2004
Event: Aug 16, 2004 - Aug 19, 2004
At the invitation of President Marc Ravalomanana, IPD helped the government analyze alternative policy solutions regarding the depreciation of Malagasy Franc and currency crisis; banking sector reform, as well as rural development. During this visit to the African republic, the team met with the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Agriculture, and the Governor of the Central Bank, among others. IPD also visited a number of microfinance and rural development projects outside the capital. Meetings covered the depreciation of Malagasy Franc and currency crisis; the banking sector and credit market; and real sector agriculture, manufacturing and mining.
