Welcome to the Initiative for Policy Dialogue's resources for journalists. IPD works with reporters interested in the field of development economics at all levels. We are excited to share our resources with you and have created this guide to help you navigate our website.
An important part of IPD's work involves helping reporters cover finance and economics in developing countries. Journalists are key in informing and equipping the public to understand and participate in economic policy decisions. IPD's Journalism program strengthens journalists' economic literacy and equips them to report on and write about the major economic issues confronting developing economies such as banking reform, privatization, trade agreements, financial crises, labor issues and globalization and the role of international financial institutions.
IPD's Journalism Primer publishes both Backgrounders and Case Studies. Backgrounders offer brief overviews of major issues and terms. Case Studies supplement Backgrounders with real world examples and analysis. In our workshops, Journalists learn from experts in these areas, including academics, World Bank officials, and NGO representatives. They also receive training in critical and analytic journalism, reporting objectively on diverse views, investigative reporting, and computer research skills from experienced journalists.
In addition, visit the IPD News/Opinions page to consider IPD experts' opinions on the latest developments in global economics. We also have a section for the press, which includes contact information, listings of expert economists, and past press releases.
