Welcome to the IPD website. IPD is an international network of nearly 250 top economists, political scientists, policymakers, and practitioners coordinated through Columbia University. The IPD network extends across a wide range of institutions, such as Harvard, Berkeley, Stanford, Princeton, LSE, Cambridge, the University of Stockholm, CEFR in Moscow, University of Delhi, University of Malaysia, the AERC in Kenya, and the ECLAC in Chile.
We have created this guide to aid you in navigating our website. The IPD network is organized into Task Forces of international experts. Each Task Force produces 'IPD Overview Chapters'. These chapters are written by the Task Force Chairs, and present what is known and unknown on each issue. Task force members also contribute IPD Working Papers on specific areas of interest. In addition, our website links to outside articles related to our task forces.
We believe that IPD task forces lay the groundwork for serious research on alternatives in development economics. By identifying areas of disagreement and pointing to gaps in the literature, Task force reports can help direct new research towards critical areas, where improved knowledge and insights can be particularly valuable.
In addition to task force reports, we also periodically publish research outside the scope of the task forces, as part of our Research Program.
Also, please visit the News/Opinions page to consider IPD-related news items and IPD experts' opinions on the latest developments in global economics.
Our Advanced Search will help you find the publications you are looking for. Simply select 'Task Forces' or 'Research' as the program type, and then choose your topic or region of interest. If you enter keywords, select 'Search', or browse the results by clicking 'View All'. Visit our Programs Guide to find out more about IPD Task Forces and Task Force meetings, as well as our other programs like Country Dialogues.

| Task Forces |
|
The Task Forces serve to provide the information needed to expand the discussion on economic policy in developing countries. Without pushing for any specific policy solution, the task forces present policymakers with a complete understanding of the economic situation and alternative policies needed to generate a competent policy.
