James O. Sterling, Finance
Founder of Aleutial Capital
James Sterling, grew up in a household with dad who was an active player in the Oil & Gas drilling industry. He had raised several funds investing in that area. After college, James lived in Caribbean for a while flying airplanes for a Caribbean airline company. The airline covered the route between San Juan and Saint Barts. He wanted to buy out that airline but the deal fell through.
Then he worked for hedge funds for a while before enrolling at Columbia Business School. After graduation he worked at Booz Allen for a couple of years in order to gain operational experience. Along the way he met Lee Black, a Corporate Attorney,
and together they decided to start Aleutian Capital - a Merchant Bank, providing advisory to its clients and backed by $50 million in funds.
