Vice President of Energy Policy & Regulatory Affairs - Con Edison
Stuart Nachmias is Vice President of Energy Policy & Regulatory Affairs for Con Edison. Mr. Nachmias is responsible for identifying regulatory policy issues and recommending policy positions for Consolidated Edison Company of NY and Orange & Rockland Utilities. Responsibilities include wholesale and retail electric and gas issues, including activities to facilitate continued reliable service and development of competitive energy markets. He is also responsible for managing the Company’s relations with federal and state energy regulatory authorities, as well as with the Northeast ISO/RTOs, and trade associations such as the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and the American Gas Association (AGA).
Mr. Nachmias has worked for Con Edison since 1988, and his experience includes a variety of positions including manager of the executive action group in customer operations, which was responsible for addressing executive level customer inquiries, and a manager in the corporate planning department where he contributed to the development of the initial proposal to reconstruct New York’s wholesale electric market in the early 1990s. Mr. Nachmias has also worked in Con Edison’s economic development planning and electric forecasting departments, and was director of marketing for the unregulated affiliate Con Edison Solutions from 1997-1999. He is currently the Chair of the NYISO Business Issues Committee and Vice Chair of EEI’s executive advisory committee for energy delivery issues.
Mr. Nachmias earned a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Investments from Baruch College in New York City, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and an Advanced Certificate in Energy Management from the New York Institute of Technology. He has also completed Power Technologies Inc.’s (PTI) Distribution System Engineering course.
