Jonathan Schrag
Executive Director, RGGI, Inc.
Jonathan joined RGGI, Inc. as Executive Director in May 2008. Before RGGI, Jonathan was a partner of Hudson Strategic Energy Advisors LLC, where he worked with the state governments of Wyoming, West Virginia, and Montana and the Western Governors Association on energy, climate and the environment.
From 2005 to 2007, Jonathan was an Assistant Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University and the Executive Director of the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy, where he ran programs on carbon capture and sequestration, nuclear energy, carbon policy, and renewable energy technologies. Jonathan also served as Research Staff with the Global Roundtable on Climate Change and as a Research Associate for Columbia University’s Center for Carbon Management.
Jonathan earned AB and AM degrees from Harvard University and received a Fulbright scholarship for research in the history of electrification. He lives in New York City.
The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is a cooperative effort by ten Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states to limit greenhouse gas emissions. RGGI is the first mandatory, market-based CO2 emissions reduction program in the United States. RGGI, Inc. is a non-profit corporation based in New York City established to provide administrative and technical services in support of the RGGI participating states’ CO2 Budget Trading Programs.
