One of Columbia Business School’s greatest assets is our over 37,000 strong alumni network, spanning globally across all continents and job functions. As your VP of Alumni, it is my job (and the Alumni Transition & Development Committee’s job) to ease the transition from 2nd year student to alumni, as well as to cultivate and develop the current CBS Alumni network. The relationships we build during our time at CBS create a community that not only serves us, but allows us to join the larger CBS network, connecting us across countries, professions, and time.
The role of VP Alumni is meant for those who build culture, community, and networks. VP Alumni’s responsibilities include:
I. Chairing the Alumni Transition and Development Committee, which is responsible for:
a. Second Year specific community building events and programming;
b. Selection of Graduation Speaker and Student Graduation Speaker;
c. Class Gift fundraising campaign;
d. Yearbook organization and production;
e. Class ring arrangements;
f. Collaborate with Alumni Relations to facilitate pre-graduation transition and educational programs during disorientation week;
g. BANC registration;
h. Alumni Club education;
i. Serving as lead liaison for post-graduation class committee;
j. Other various alumni related programming and events throughout the year.
II. Working with the Alumni Relations and select young alumni to develop a more permanent and sustainable structure for Alumni interface with the GBA
III. Maintaining communication with, and helping to coordinate the efforts of, Alumni Relations during first year post graduation, including:
a. First Year Reunion;
b. Additional special events throughout the first year post graduation.
IV. Acting as the GBA liaison to the External Relations office
V. Actively engaging the CBS student community and promoting student involvement
At Columbia Business School we consistently position ourselves to succeed in the future.
