Patrick McCullough
Patrick McCullough, Co-President

Biography

Patrick McCullough ’10 is the Co-President of HCIA. Prior to Columbia Business School, Patrick worked as Product Manager in Medical Devices, where he helped build the Reconstructive Division at Integra LifeSciences. In addition to launching new products and technologies, Patrick was heavily involved in the expansion of their direct sales force. Prior to Integra, Patrick was a Marketing Associate at Stryker Orthopedics, where he worked on a new product launch team focused on Total Knee Arthroplasty.

Shira Shmulewitz
Shira Shmulewitz, Co-President

Biography

Shira Shmulewitz ’10 is Co-President of HCIA.  Prior to Columbia Business School, Shira worked as a Sr. Financial Analyst for New York Presbyterian Hospital.  Before working for NYP, she was an Associate Underwriter at Horizon Healthcare of NY and a summer intern at Ethicon Endo Surgery, Inc.  This summer, Shira will be working for Merck in its Marketing Group.  Shira received a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Brandeis University.

Sachin Nanavati
Sachin Nanavati, VP Alumni

Biography

Sachin Nanavati '10 is the VP Alumni of HCIA. Prior to Columbia Business School, Sachin worked as Pharmaceutical Sales for Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals. This past summer Sachin worked in the Corporate Development and Strategy Group at Becton Dickinson and Company.

Yusheng Han
Yusheng Han, AVP Alumni Development

Biography

Yusheng Han '11 is the AVP of Alumni Development of HCIA. Prior to Columbia Business School, Yusheng worked as China General Manager in BioTek Instruments, Inc. where he built and led BioTek's team in China. Prior to BioTek, Yusheng was a Product Specialist at Gene Company Ltd., where he worked on product management.


Nawaz Jadavji
Nawaz Jadavji, VP Alumni

Biography

Nawaz Jadavji '10 is VP Alumni Relations. Prior to Columbia Business School, Nawaz was a healthcare consultant for ~7 years, mostly in the provider space focusing on revenue cycle and business process improvements. While at Columbia, Nawaz has sought to broaden his healthcare experience through his involvement in HCIA and by developing a customer relationship management, marketing, and talent retention strategy for a non-profit hospital in India as part of the International Development Club. He spent his summer at the Courtyard Group, a boutique healthcare consulting firm, and New York Presbyterian Hospital in their finance department.

Nawaz received his B.A. in Biology from Johns Hopkins University and a M.S. in Health Systems in the school of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology



Kelly Rich
Kelly Rich, AVP Alumni Outreach & EMBA Liaison

Biography

Prior to attending CBS, Kelly worked at The Boston Consulting Group in San Francisco, where her favorite projects were in the healthcare space. Prior to working at BCG, Kelly attended the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in History but pursued a variety of healthcare-related activities - from pre-medical classes, to interning in Health and Welfare at Towers Perrin and working at two hospitals in the Bay Area. At CBS, Kelly is focusing on Health and Pharma Management. She is originally from California.

Daniel Moskovic
Daniel Moskovic, VP Careers

Biography

Daniel Moskovic is a joint MD / MBA student at Baylor College of Medicine and Columbia Business School. He also holds a Master of Arts from Columbia University in Biotechnology. Through his training, Daniel has consulted for a variety of start-up healthcare ventures and collaborated with several small venture firms. He has also worked in capital markets for Bank of America, as well as other boutique investment banks. Concurrently, Daniel has pursued both clinical and basic science research interets, publishing in several peer-reviewed journals and presenting research at meetings throughout the country. His current interests include implementation of strategy and technology in healthcare, healthcare finance, and surgical urology and oncology.

Rachel Martens
Rachel Martens, AVP Professional Development - Internships

Biography

Rachel Yap Martens '11 is AVP, Professional Development - Internships. Prior to Columbia Business School, Rachel spent four years in Investment Banking, focusing on the healthcare industry at BMO Capital Markets, where she was engaged in the execution and origination of private and public equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and debt transactions for middle-market healthcare clients.
At Columbia, Rachel is concentrating in Healthcare and Private Equity. Rachel received a B.A. in Economics from Brown University.

Emily Berlanstein, VP Conference

Biography

Emily Berlanstein ’10 is VP, Conference Planning & Logistics.  Prior to Columbia Business School, Emily worked in public affairs at New York–Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell, where she created strategic communications plans and managed media opportunities for department chairs and administrators.  Prior to New York–Presbyterian, Emily was an Associate at the public relations agency RF|Binder Partners. 

At Columbia, Emily is concentrating in Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management and Marketing.  She will spend her summer internship at Amgen.  Emily received a B.A. in English from Middlebury College, where she was a member of the crew team.  She is originally from Baltimore, MD.

Amol Luhadia
Amol Luhadia, VP Conference

Biography

Amol Luhadia ’10 is VP, Conference Marketing.  Before starting at Columbia Business School, Amol spent two years in a business development role at New Jersey based US Pharma Labs, Inc.  Prior to which, Amol was an analyst in the municipal finance banking group at Morgan Stanley focusing on infrastructure finance. 

While at Columbia Business School Amol’s focus is in healthcare management.  He will be spending his summer at Bristol-Myers Squibb in their Medical Affairs group.  Amol is originally from South Brunswick, New Jersey.  He received his bachelors in Finance and Management from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.


Kristin Stepaniak
Kristin Stepaniak, AVP Conference

Biography

Kristin Stepaniak '11 is AVP of Conference for HCIA. Prior to Columbia Business School, Kristin worked as an Associate Consultant at ZS Associates, where she was involved in marketing analytics, market research, and sales force operations projects for pharmaceutical clients. Kristin received a BA in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University.


Andrew Tom
Andrew Tom, VP Conference

Biography

Andrew Tom ’10 is VP, Conference Speakers & Panels.  Prior to Columbia Business School Andrew was a Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Assistant at the Columbia University Medical Center where he studied surgery outcomes to improve quality of care and assisted in organ procurements as part of the heart and lung transplant team.  Previously, Andrew was an analyst at McKinsey & Company.

At Columbia Business School, Andrew’s concentration is investment management with a focus on healthcare companies.  Andrew is a native New Yorker and received his bachelors in Finance and Information Systems from the Stern School of Business at New York University.



Elchin Tuna
Elcin Tuna , AVP Conference

Biography

Elcin Tuna '11 is AVP, Conference. Prior to Columbia Business School, Elcin worked as a financial analyst for Consumer Lending Business at Citibank, where she organized all analytical support and yearly financial plans for the business. Before working for Citibank Elcin was a pricing engineer at Ford Motor Company. At Columbia Business School she is concentrating on Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management. Elcin received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey.

Jeremy Cohen
Jeremy Cohen, VP New Corporate Relations

Biography

Jeremy Cohen, ’10, is VP of New Corporate Relations.  Prior to Columbia Business School, Jeremy was an independent consultant to life sciences start-ups and venture incubators including included Seed-One Ventures, Pinyons Medical, and Tryton Medical.  Previously, he was a product development engineer at Cordis Corporation, where he focused on developing next-generation drug-eluting stents.

At Columbia, Jeremy is concentrating in finance and entrepreneurship and is spending his summer as a Strategy & Business Development Summer Associate at Pfizer. A native of Miami, he received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University and his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University. 


Ryan Perraut
Ryan Perraut, AVP Corporate Relations - New Relations

Biography

Ryan Perraut, '11, is AVP of Corporate Relations. Prior to Columbia Business School, Ryan worked at CNF Investments as a senior associate focused on venture capital investments. At CNF Ryan was involved in the entire investment process from screening to working with portfolio companies. Previously, he worked in equity research with FBR Capital Markets and Institutional Investment Management with Citigroup Asset Management.
At Columbia, Ryan is concentrating in healthcare, finance and entrepreneurship. Ryan received his BA from Georgetown University. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.



Daily Susman
Daily Susman, VP Existing Corporate Relations

Biography

Daily Susman ’10 is VP, Existing Corporate Relations. Prior to Columbia Business School, Daily worked at American Express on the Industry Development team in OPEN, the small business division, where she conducted quantitative and qualitative analysis of business growth opportunities. Previously, she worked at Ogilvy Worldwide on the IBM account managing the creative development and execution of direct marketing deliverables.  

At Columbia, Daily is concentrating in Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management and Marketing. Daily graduated with distinction from Yale University with a B.A. in Psychology. She will spend her summer as a Marketing Intern at Becton Dickinson.

Anthony Capalbo
Anthony Capalbo, VP Events

Biography

Anthony Capalbo ’10 is VP of Events.  Prior to attending Columbia, Anthony spent six years at Morgan Stanley, working in both New York and Tokyo offices. His summer internship will be with Covidien’s surgical devices division in their strategic marketing department.

Anthony is actively involved in public education.  In 2008, he co-founded Free To Explore, Inc., a non-profit whose mission is to promote ecological education through hands-on field learning experiences for Brooklyn public elementary school children.

At Columbia, Anthony is concentrating on Marketing and Management.  Anthony has a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from New York University.

Ting Chen
Ting Chen, VP Finance

Biography

Ting Chen ’10 is VP, Finance & Membership.  Prior to Columbia Business School, Ting was an Associate Manager with The Nielsen Company (BASES), providing consultancy for global pharmaceutical companies on new product launch and sales forecast.  Ting received her Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Georgetown University, where she developed novel strategies for treating multi-drug resistance ovarian cancer.  At CBS, Ting’s concentrating in Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management and Finance.  Ting also serves as a Science and Technology Ventures (STV) Fellow for technology transfer at Columbia University. This summer, Ting is a business development intern for Becton Dickinson.

Nupur Agarwal
Nupur Agarwal, AVP Finance & Membership

Biography

Nupur Agarwal '11 is AVP of Finance and Membership. Prior to Columbia Business School, Nupur worked as a Consultant for Deloitte Consulting in its Strategy and Operations group. Her projects have primarily been in the Pharmaceutical industry across various functions - R&D, Marketing, and Operations. Nupur received a B.A. in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis.

Ksenya Gankina
Sarah Gankina, VP J-Term

Biography

Sarah Gankina ’10 is VP, J-Term. Prior to Columbia Business School, Sarah worked as a litigation consultant at Analysis Group’s LA office. She worked on pharmaceutical patent infringement and securities fraud in the big pharma industry. As part of her work at Analysis Group, Sarah supported celebrity expert witnesses such as Dr. Glenn Hubbard!

At CBS, Sarah is concentrating in Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management and Finance. Sarah has a BA and MA degrees in Economics from McGill University Montreal, Canada. In her free time, she enjoys reading anything by Jodi Picoult, doing anything in Central Park, and watching movies.

Benjamin Bynum
Benjamin Bynum , VP of Education

Biography

Having graduated in 2007 with his M.D. from Howard University, Dr. Bynum is currently completing a dual MPH-MBA at the Mailman School of Public Health. As an undergraduate at Tuskegee University, Dr. Bynum was a Scholastic All-American on the football team. Since arriving at Mailman and receiving the W.E.B. DuBois Scholarship in 2007, he has worked at Eli Lilly and Healthcare Investigations, LLC, combining his medical background with global marketing strategy implementation and investigative research. Dr. Bynum has completed MPH coursework with a focus on Health Care Management. He is currently completing the Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Management curriculum at CBS.

Sarah Rubenstein
Sarah Rubenstein, AVP Education

Biography

Sarah Rubenstein '11 is AVP of Education for HCIA. Prior to Columbia Business School, Sarah worked as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal. She wrote articles about the cost of health care and its impact on patients, focusing on topics such as health insurance, hospital billing, Medicare, pharmacy benefit managers and drug costs. She also covered drug companies including Bristol-Myers Squibb and Merck. Before joining the Journal, Sarah was a reporter for the Atlanta Business Chronicle, where she covered Georgia and metro Atlanta government. She received an A.B. in history from Dartmouth College.

Joseph Kairen
Joe Kairen, VP Technology & Communication

Biography

Joseph Kairen, '11, is the VP of Technology & Communications. Prior to Columbia Business School, Joe worked at J.P. Morgan as an associate on a sell side research desk focused on fixed income, currency and commodity indices. At JPM Joe was responsible for overseeing the daily creation and publication of the developed market indices. Prior to JPM Joe worked in internal audit with Barclays Capital and in an external audit role in the Life Sciences practice at Deloitte.
At CBS, Joe is concentrating in Consulting, Healthcare and Strategy. Joe Received his BS in MIS from Rutgers University.
