Make a Difference in 90 Minutes
I-Prep (Interview Practice and Review for Emerging Professionals) is a volunteer mentoring program developed by F·E·G·S Health and Human Services System, in conjunction with MBA students at Columbia Business School.
Columbia MBA students mentor unemployed, socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who participate in employment and job readiness programs at F·E·G·S. Mentors work on an individual basis with program participants to help them gain confidence and sharpen their interviewing skills to improve their chances of opening the doors to full-time employment.
The I-Prep program arranges for participants to visit Columbia's campus and work one-on-one with Columbia MBA students. Last year, Columbia students served over 200 F·E·G·S clients.
The one hour long sessions offer the F·E·G·S participants two 20-25 minute mock interviews in addition to feedback sessions, with two different Columbia MBA student volunteers. Lunch is provided after the event.
