The objective of the Columbia Business School Latin America Conference is to be a panel for discussion of the forces that forge the Latin America reality. The title of this year's conference will be "Turnaround Strategies in Latin America: Macroeconomic and Business Perspectives" and will address the difficulties that the region currently faces and strategies to overcome them from a macroeconomic and business perspective. The conference will be divided in two blocks.

The first block "Macroeconomic Environment and its influence in Business Development" will take place in the morning and will address the Influence of Macroeconomic Policy in Latin America. This block will count with prominent academics in the area, such as Robert Mundell Nobel Prize of 1999, and key decision makers in the current and past economic development of the region such as William McDonough President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Miguel Urrutia Governor CB Colombia and Mario Blejer former Governor CB Argentina.

The second block "Strategies for Successful Management under Adverse Macroeconomic Conditions" will be held in the afternoon and will address the difficulties that businesses in the region face under the current economic situation and how to successfully overcome them. This block will count with leaders of successful companies that have a strong presence in Latin America, such as Cesar Alierta Chairman of Telefonica; and leaders of the business arena in Latin America, such as Paolo Rocca CEO of Tenaris.
