The objective of the Columbia Business School Latin America Conference
is to be a panel for discussion of the forces that forge the Latin
America reality. The title of this year's conference will be “Growth
Strategies for Latin Countries” and it will
address this main issue both from a macroeconomic and a business
perspective. The conference will be divided in two blocks 1. Foundations
for Growth and 2. Alternative Growth Strategies and Competitive
Advantages.
The first block "Foundations for Growth"
will take place in the morning and will address the macroeconomic
foundations that will drive growth in Latin American countries.
This block will count with prominent academics in the area, such
as Joseph Stiglitz, 2001 Nobel Prize of Economics, and Bruce Greenwald,
first professor to win the Presidential Award at Columbia Business
School, and key decision makers in the current and past economic
development of the region such as Domingo Cavallo, former Minister
of Economics of Argentina and Cesar Gaviria, General Secretary
of the OAS.
The second block "Alternative Growth Strategies
and Competitive Advantages” will give a vision
about the diverse strategies that international and local companies
are implementing in the region. This block will count with leaders
of successful companies that have a strong presence in Latin America
and leaders of the business arena in Latin America, such as Francisco
de Narváez, Private Equity Investor, Argentina.
