The objective of the Columbia Business School Latin America Conference is to be a panel for discussion of the forces that forge the Latin America reality. The title of this year's conference will be “Growth Strategies for Latin Countries” and it will address this main issue both from a macroeconomic and a business perspective. The conference will be divided in two blocks 1. Foundations for Growth and 2. Alternative Growth Strategies and Competitive Advantages.

The first block "Foundations for Growth" will take place in the morning and will address the macroeconomic foundations that will drive growth in Latin American countries. This block will count with prominent academics in the area, such as Joseph Stiglitz, 2001 Nobel Prize of Economics, and Bruce Greenwald, first professor to win the Presidential Award at Columbia Business School, and key decision makers in the current and past economic development of the region such as Domingo Cavallo, former Minister of Economics of Argentina and Cesar Gaviria, General Secretary of the OAS.

The second block "Alternative Growth Strategies and Competitive Advantages” will give a vision about the diverse strategies that international and local companies are implementing in the region. This block will count with leaders of successful companies that have a strong presence in Latin America and leaders of the business arena in Latin America, such as Francisco de Narváez, Private Equity Investor, Argentina.
