Welcome Class of 2013!
Peer
Advisors are second year MBA candidates who are dedicated
to making your transition to the Columbia Business School
environment easy and enjoyable!
With 74 members in
the Fall, and 36 members in the Spring, the Peer Advisor team
is selected through a rigorous application and interview
process and trained in leadership development, with a strong
focus on team building. The Peer Advisor Team, part of
the School’s Program on Social Intelligence, has several
purposes: to serve as a resource in your transition to
the program, to help you understand the School’s culture and
community, and to support you and your study group through the
teamwork aspects of the first-year core curriculum.
In
addition to undergoing training, Peer Advisors volunteer part
of their summer and winter vacations to design, organize, and
implement the Orientation program. But, the Peer Advisors'
role does not end when Orientation draws to a close.
Throughout the academic year, Peer Advisors will work with you
and your study group members throughout the year to help you
optimize your first year experience. We are available to
answer your questions and offer advice about academics, school
resources, the career search, elective courses, professors,
and New York City!
We are Peer Advisors because we are
enjoying our Columbia experiences immensely and want to make
sure that you do as well. We represent all different
countries, nationalities, backgrounds, work experience, and
career goals! We are sure that one of us will be able to help
with your needs.
You can contact us before the semester
begins with any questions. Once the academic year begins, each
cluster will be assigned a team of 8-10 Peer Advisors. Your
Peer Advisor Team will experience Orientation with you, and
then see you throughout your first year.
