In recent years the Retail & Luxury Goods
Club at Columbia Business School has grown to become
one of the most active clubs on campus, with over
260 members. The club aims to educate students about
the retail and luxury goods industries through guest
speakers, faculty panels, industry tours, and alumni
networking. Additionally, the club helps students
find both summer and full-time employment in the
retail and luxury goods industries and works to
bring more retail and luxury goods recruiters to
campus.
The club covers a wide range of retail
practices that include apparel retailing (Aéropostale,
Bloomingdale’s, J.Crew, Cole Haan), non-apparel
retailing (Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, Wal*Mart,
Target, Borders), retail manufacturing (Polo Ralph
Lauren, VF Corp, Warnaco), retail consulting (Kurt
Salmon Associates), and retail investment banking
(Peter J. Solomon Company, Elixir Advisors, Financo).
Coverage of the luxury goods industry includes
upscale retailers (Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus,
Nordstrom) and manufacturers (Coach, Hermés, LVMH,
Richemont, Chanel, Tiffany & Co.).
