Public Transportation: Four bus lines (M4, M11, M5, M104) and one subway line (the Broadway IRT #1 local) serve the Columbia/Morningside Heights area. If you find yourself on the Broadway IRT #2 express or #3 express, be certain to change to the #1 local train at 96th Street. The Columbia University stop is 116th street. you can walk thru Columbia Univerity Main campus, and cross Amsterdam Ave. Make a left on Morningside Ave from 116th St, and Faculty House is on the right side, on the west side of the block.
By Air: La Guardia is the closest airport to the city and is about a $15 taxi fare to the campus. For those coming into John F. Kennedy or Newark airports, bus service is available to either the East Side Terminal or Port Authority Bus Terminal. Taxi Service is available from these two airports, but it is expensive.
By Train or Bus: Train and bus service arrive at New York's Grand Central Station, Pennsylvania Station, or Port Authority Bus Terminal where a visitor can take either public transportation or a taxi north to the campus.
By Car: Columbia is best reached by taking the 95th/96th Street exit of the Henry Hudson Parkway (West Side Highway). Use the 95th Street off ramp and turn left onto Riverside Drive. Go north on Amsterdamn Ave util 116th Street. A right turn at 116th Street leads you to entry to Faculty House on the north side of the street, middle of the blokc. You can also acess Faculty House from Morning side Ave. Closest Parking lot is located on 114th St between Broadway and Amsterdamn Aves.
To reach the Henry Hudson Parkway:
From the North -
(1) New York Thruway (Route 87) to Cross Bronx Expressway in the direction of the George Washington Bridge. Bear right as you approach the bridge and take the exit for the Henry Hudson Parkway south.
(2) New England Thruway (I-95) becomes the Cross Bronx Expressway. Proceed as above.
(3) Saw Mill River Parkway south or Cross County Parkway west to Henry Hudson Parkway south.
From the West -
New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) north or I-80 east to George Washington Bridge.
Follow signs as you cross bridge to exit for Henry Hudson Parkway south.
