ALUMNI

The Social Enterprise Club Alumni Association (SEAA) at Columbia Business School is dedicated to the promotion of professional development and the development of a strong network of socially-minded alumni around the world. Social Enterprise Club Alumni have opportunities to attend and speak at guest lectures and panel discussions, mentor current social enterprise students, and participate in the social enterprise board matching initiative (currently under development).

Mission

To build a strong network among alumni who are building careers as professional managers in the public or nonprofit sectors, or pursuing for-profit careers and remain interested in social enterprise issues;
To develop mentoring relationships among Columbia MBA students, alumni, and Executive Education participants;
To provide an alumni forum for the exchange of ideas and information, as well as for discussion about the nonprofit/social enterprise sector;
To offer assistance in the search for career and/or volunteer opportunities in the social sector, including board membership and volunteer consulting.

Membership

Membership is available to any Columbia Business School graduate with a career or personal interest, and for alumni that would like to keep up to date with the social enterprise field. Membership in the SEAA is free of charge. All members receive SEC alumni listserv emails, which provide information and events at Columbia and via its network of organizations.

To join the Social Enterprise Alumni Association at Columbia Business School, please contact the VP Alumni Affairs & Mentoring.

What are the benefits?

Events: Social, intellectual, and professional networking opportunities such as Industry Panel, Conferences, and Brown Bag lunches;

Alumni/Student Directory: Current and past students in the Social Enterprise Program searchable by geography, interest areas, year of graduation, etc;

Assistance in the search for Volunteer Opportunities including Board seats on Nonprofits and Volunteer consulting opportunities.

Mentoring

SEC Alumni serve as mentors by assisting current students in exploring career options, changing careers, and learning about the job market and required skills in current or previous fields of interest. If you are an alumni of Columbia Business School and would like information about the social enterprise alumni counseling group, please see the Social Enterprise Program website and contact Carolyn Champ.

SEC students are members of career mentoring groups which organize speaker events and conduct social and information sharing sessions amongst students, alumni and professionals from social enterprise organizations.
