Teaching and research interests

Professor Shibano is President of Strategic Financial Literacy, Inc., a company focused on enabling financial clarity for non-financial executives worldwide. He is an adjunct professor at the Columbia Business School, a faculty member of the Advanced Financial Management Program at the General Electric's John F. Welch Leadership Development Center, an executive education lecturer at the Center for Executive Development at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and an Independent Trustee and Audit Committee Chairperson of the Matthews Asian Funds. He has served on the faculties at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Shibano was voted outstanding EMBA teacher at the Haas School of Business, was recognized for teaching excellence at the Australian Graduate School of Management and was twice voted best professor of the Thunderbird Global MBA program. His consulting projects include Activity-Based Management, Balanced Scorecards, and Strategy Implementation. At General Electric, he developed and taught courses in financial analysis and planning, GE controllership, and GE acquisitions.
