On behalf of the Greater China Society at Columbia Business School, we are delighted to welcome you to our 4th annual China Business Conference, titled, “Growing Like China.” The conference will be held in Low Memorial Library at Columbia University on Saturday, April 2, 2011.

Our conference will provide an opportunity to discuss and debate the opportunities and challenges facing China’s rapidly developing economy, which eclipsed Japan as the world’s second largest economy in 2010. Through a series of keynote speeches, specialist panels, and social events—all featuring distinguished leaders from industry, government, and academia with unparalleled experience in China—we will explore a wide-range of complex issues related to the macro-economy, capital markets, venture capital, private equity, green energy, clean technology, and investment banking.

As the fastest growing major economy in the world, China has averaged a stellar 9.9% GDP growth over the last three decades. This period has seen China undergo a spectacular economic transformation, entailing not only rapid economic growth and sustained capital accumulation, but also major shifts in the composition of economic output, urbanization of society, and the growing importance of capital markets and entrepreneurial savvy. As China positions itself to take a leading role on the world stage, we cannot help but wonder: How was it possible for China to achieve such extraordinary growth during its transition? Can other countries achieve similar economic progress? And what can the world learn from China’s growth? Attendees will have the opportunity to join this discussion, pose questions, and network with leading professionals in the industry.

We are most honored to have the contribution of a distinguished group of keynote speakers and panelists, who bring a wealth of real experience and insight to share with our participants. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation for the generous support of our sponsors who have made the conference possible. Finally, we would like to acknowledge the tremendous energy and dedication of our conference team.

We look forward to seeing you at Low Memorial Library at Columbia University!
